Wildfires
The San Carlos Apache Reservation wildfire season starts about early April and will last through late September. Summer months is when fire fighting crews are busy with fires throughtout the southwest. Crews are used locatlly or are recruited to other states.

San Carlos has about 15 firefighting crews that are staffed with 20 people. There are 4 districts, Sevenmile, Gilson, Peridot and Bylas, that are rotated for each assignment.

Pack test and trainings are offered before each fire season. New recruits are trained for basic firefighting, wildfre behavior and first aid.

Fire Prevention and smokey do public awareness, passing out flyers and balloons to kids.
